So let’s take a look at where we started in this bathroom…Here’s a pic from when we first painted after moving in.

And then another paint job…

And then Harvey pretty much obliterated the bathroom. After all these changes I think I finally have what I wanted all along – to get rid of that stupid pedestal sink! Sorry, but I’m not a fan…and if you’ve ever installed one or changed plumbing fixtures you know why. If you haven’t, let’s just say that they aren’t the easiest to access. Plus I can’t stand that there’s no storage.
I found the perfect vanity though. I saw it on Shanty 2 Chic and it was surprisingly easy to build. The hardest part was moving it into the tiny space.

I was so excited to build this plan I totally forgot to take pics of the process, but it was super easy and probably the most complicated part was cutting the X’s for the front and sides. I painted it with black premixed paint from Walmart (oh yes!) and a bit of Floetrol mixed in for a smooth brush-mark free finish.

Next thing I know I’m tiling the wall! Yes, it had been a little dream of mine that my Pinterest pins wholly support, but after seeing the subway tile Shanty 2 Chic included in their vanity plans my decision was confirmed. I saw it and I said, “THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT”. Therefore, I *kind of* decided to do this on a whim after we repaired the drywall from Harvey damage. It took me a couple days to complete and I think it makes quite a dramatic impact in this little space.

This was right after grouting and wiping the first time so in case you’re wondering, those black streaks are from grout residue still left on the tile. I apologize the crown molding looks a bit yellowed…it also got a fresh coat of paint with my favorite Behr Ultra White zero VOC paint.
And here we are all done and pretty! A perfect space for guests to remember when they stop by the potty at our house.
