Music Room Reveal
Finally, another room done after Harvey! I am proud to share with you our Music Room Reveal. Re-making this room was a touch of new and a good amount of luck / blessings.
In case you don’t remember, here is the room before the flood:
It was complete with my husband’s antique piano we got for free on Craigslist before we were married and a number of other sentimental pieces. After some much needed convincing, we had to let the piano go…it was falling apart on us and basically collapsing under it’s own weight. Restoration would have cost way more than it was worth too.
“Luck” would have it that I found one almost identical to his old upright on Craigslist again! After replacing the wheels and giving the piano a new coat of poly, it looked much better. It still needs some work – especially the bench – but for now this French mattress style cushion I made will have to do. If you’d like to make one just like it here is the tutorial I followed.
So here it is! New flooring courtesy of Select Surfaces in Espresso (read about how we installed it in the living room here), new handmade window treatments, fresh paint, and new drywall, texture, AND baseboards! Whew!
I’m very happy with how everything turned out. I especially love the curtains. They are made from blue ticking stripe fabric purchased from JOANNS for $12.99 / yd (then 40% off with coupon!) and they look almost identical to the Pottery Barn Wheaton Stripe Drapes, but obviously for a fraction of the price! The length I needed was over 96″ and if purchased from Pottery Barn it would have cost me around $89 / panel. Yikes! I am also really digging this industrial style hardware I purchased from Amazon.
I hesitate to call a flood or any natural disaster a blessing, but there have been many blessings along this journey to re-making our home. What do you think? Does it look better before or after?
Wow! Looks great! 🙂 Even though going through Harvey was an unbelievable nightmare for you all, I know this time of renovation and reconstruction is also a type of “New Beginnings.” So, we’re very happy for how God is giving you the strength you need for the task. Keep posting more pictures. 🙂 Love you all. God bless you.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support – we’re gonna make it through this!!
